Joe Hinton, our esteemed President had a brain fart of a contest idea recently that he thought would be a hoot. More in line of a themed type event rather than a contest of prowess in the altitude or power arena. This would be for a launch late in the year, maybe like for Oktoberfest, November or December, or even next year. We'd call it the ODDBALL launch -where flyers need to build a rocket around/using whatever sports ball they choose for either a nosecone or payload and safely land it closest to the pad. Could be something really simple like a ping pong ball or golf ball or baseball nosecone or really difficult like a basketball or football or bowling ball or pilates ball payload - flyers choice. It would have to go up at least three hundred feet and you'd get no points for bouncing on recovery.
